Bassingham St Michael and All Angels
Date recorded: 27 Nov 2013
Recorded by: LAG team
Photos taken: 48
Very few graffiti were observed in the main body of the church, but a substantial amount of graffiti is located in the porch and around the south door leading into the church. They include several roughly carved crosses; 2 faintly scratched pentagrams; several enigmatic scratches; and 4 neatly engraved overlapping circles on the Westernmost South Aisle pillar; one ‘double-V’ symbol. 2 scratch dials outside.
By far the most spectacular graffito is, of course, the very detailed carving of a ship seen here, and found in the porch to the left of the south door.
