North Cockerington St Mary

Wall Fabric Surface :

Plastered and whitewashed throughout, apart from damaged effigy by south wall.

General Comments :

Box pews throughout nave + occasional letter or scratch, 2 examples recorded.

The bulk of St Mary's dates from the 13th and 14th-centuries, although a blocked-up window in the chancel could date from before the Norman Conquest. It also has box pews and improving texts from the early nineteenth century, when the tower was rebuilt.

Only 16 photos taken; graffiti (mostly on effigy) is fair to poor quality.
